چکیده

The research in this paper presents the detailed development and on-line evaluation of a microscopic traffic flow model for the city of Irvine in Southern California. This effort is the first stage of evaluating micro-simulators in terms of their ability to model and analyze Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) under faster-than-real-time conditions. We utilize “Paramics,” a particularly promising ITS-capable advanced traffic flow simulator and visualization tool, as one of an array of newly emerging ITS-capable simulation tools and we apply it to the Irvine network as part of a staged effort to model the much larger Southern California network. The driver and vehicle models

Comparison of the bleeding cricothyrotomy model to SimMan for training students and residents emergency cricothyrotomy

Introduction: A cricothyroidotomy is an emergency procedurethat few emergency medicine residents see or perform duringtheir training. Therefore, there is a need for low cost, high fidelitymodels for training. In this study, we explore a new training modelfor cricothyroidotomies (the bleeding CRIC [cost-effective realisticinteractive cricothyroidotomy]) to determine...

Developing a Model of Heterogeneity in Driver’s Behavior

Intelligent Driver Model (IDM) is a well-known microscopic model of traffic flow within the traffic engineering societies. While it is a powerful technique for modeling traffic flows, the Intelligent Driver Model lacks the potential of accommodating the notion of drivers’ heterogeneous behavior whenever they are on roads. Concerning the above mentioned, this paper takes the lane to recognize th...

A multiple-mini interview (MMI) for emergency medicine residency admissions: A brief report and qualitative analysis

Introduction: A multiple-mini interview (MMI) is a type ofstructured interview, which may assess many non-cognitivedomains in residency applicants. There are few studies on MMIduring the emergency medicine (EM) residency admissionsprocess in the United States. We sought to determine the strengths, weaknesses, and acceptability of a pilot MMI for EM residencyadmissions. Methods: We piloted a five-...
